Is Anybody Home © Wendy Ford
Is anybody home? Has anybody tried –
Knocking on the door to see who is inside
They may be frightened, feeing alone –
Why not shine a light, and give a friendly call
“Is anybody home?”
I know a man – who can barely say a word, he speaks with gestures
And with his eyes
But when he can, he will gently stroke my arm
To tell me today he’s feeling nice
Though his gaze speaks volumes, to know what he’s thinking
I’d pay almost any price
Is anybody home? Has anybody tried –
Knocking on the door to see who is inside
They may be frightened, feeing alone –
Why not shine a light, and give a friendly call
“Is anybody home?”
There is a woman – lying in a bed, pretty flowers and balloons above her head
There was an incident, now she is still,
To move and speak again her family hopes she will
Can that infinite intelligence explain it all away, take her hand hear an angel say
Is anybody home? Has anybody tried –
Knocking on the door to see who is inside
They may be frightened, feeing alone –
Why not shine a light, and give a friendly call
“Is anybody home?”
Maybe in another dimension, the silent people gather to rejoice
Too often we take our words for granted,
Instead of telling friends and leaders with one voice!
One voice!
Is anybody home? Has anybody tried –
Knocking on the door to see who is inside
They may be frightened, feeing alone –
Why not shine a light, and give a friendly call
Is anybody home? Has anybody tried –
Knocking on the door to see who is inside?
They may be frightened, feeling alone
Come on and shine a light – come on and shine a light ----
Go on and shine a light ----
And say “welcome home”
